A Director, reporting to the Dean of the
Faculty of Engineering and Computing, manages the CEEC. The Director
oversees a small permanent staff of a Programme Manager, a Centre
Administrator, an administrative support, a laboratory technician and a
reprographic clerk. He/She reports monthly to the Senior Staff Faculty
Meeting which includes the Head of the School of Engineering (SOE), the Head
of the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) and the Dean to
discuss facilities and human resource issues which impact the respective
schools. He/She also reports monthly to the Faculty Research Committee on
the financial aspects of research projects being administered through the
CEEC. By reason of the CEEC being a profit centre he/she also reports at the
Planning and Development Committee. The Director also answers monthly at an
executive committee comprising the internal members of the Board of
Management.
A Board of Management
provides for the management and control of the CEEC and in determining the
strategic direction of the Centre within the university’s strategic plan.
Its membership consists of representatives of the public and private sector
who have commitment, experience and competence in relevant academic,
professional and business arenas. The function of the Management Board will
be to monitor the key success factors; to facilitate co-ordination among the
areas deemed to be important to the Centre; and to recommend to Council and
the Academic Board the administrative and financial management policies and
procedures in keeping with the Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, Policies
and Procedures of the university. |
