PROGRAMME BACKGROUND
The Computing and Engineering Extension Centre (CEEC) provides training and continuing education opportunities in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computing and Mechanical Engineering. It also serves as a vehicle for the administration of consultancy and research projects that are conducted by lecturers within the Faculty of Engineering & Computing, under the Industrial Cell programme – (a scheme designed to present industrial design and research problems to students for solutions in the absence of industrial placement). What was formerly the UTech Energy Centre is now identified as the Energy Unit, and its activities are now incorporated under the CEEC. The Energy Unit focuses on training, research and consultancy; with specific emphasis on energy use efficiency, and renewable energy technologies.

Currently the main focus of the CEEC is to enhance the human resource skills of the industrial and commercial sectors by education and training courses.

Areas in which courses are offered include:

  • Computer Networks Technology
  • Basic Computing
  • Microcomputer Technology
  • Digital Computer Technology
  • Telecommunications Technology
  • Computer Programming
  • Web Development
  • AutoCAD
  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Industrial Hydraulics
  • Building Services Technologies
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Industrial Electronic Technologies
  • Electrical Licensing
