T

he College of Business and Management (COBAM), on Thursday,

July 6, 2017 launched the Caribbean Case Researchers Association,

(CCRA) formally marking the commencement of creating a repository

of high quality case writing in the region. The launch was held at the Shared

Facilities Complex, Papine campus.

Prof. Paul Golding, Dean, COBAM who conceptualized and spearheaded

the launch of the CCRA, in his overview said that with the establishment

of the Association is intended to improve business practice in Jamaica

and the region by the documentation of business theory case scenarios

that represent the reality of the business landscape of Jamaica and the

Caribbean.

President Elect of the North American Case Researchers Association,

(NACRA) Dr. Jeffrey Shay endorsed the CCRA and expressed hope that it

will positively impact the future of business education in the Caribbean.

Mr. Garfield Higgins, Senior Advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Education

Youth and Information, in welcoming the CCRA said that, “universities

cannot afford to rely on reputation alone as a conduit of current relevance,”

but need to ensure that their research output and other services are readily

applicable to the long-standing social and economic challenges which have

affected us for decades. The guest Speaker, was Mr. John Suranyi, Group

CEO, Digicel Play Caribbean and Central America.
