POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Head of School has overall responsibility and accountability to the College/Faculty Dean for the operations, planning, development and maintenance of all courses of study, modules and resources within the School. S/he is also responsible for promoting and monitoring the school’s relevance and involvement in all aspects of the College/Faculty’s administrative and academic operations. The Head of School provides academic leadership and management to facilitate a collegial, productive and safe working environment in the School, the College/Faculty and the University.
IDEALLY, THE CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:
- A terminal degree or an equivalent professional qualification in a discipline taught in the relevant school;
- At least five (5) years of relevant teaching and/or research experience
- The rank of Senior Lecturer
- A proven record of academic administrative management with progressive levels of responsibility;
- The ability to promote leadership and vision and effectively lead collaborative change; and
- A demonstrated commitment to student-centred learning, rigorous academic standards and to promoting an innovative teaching and learning environment.
REMUNERATION
Compensation will be in accordance with the University’s compensation policies and guidelines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a responsibility post, and the appointment will be for three (3) years with the possibility for re-appointment for a second term or part thereof. Persons who have served one term in the post are eligible to apply.
