University of Technology, Jamaica 52 Professor Paul Golding Dean (tenure ended December 2019) • School of Business Administration • School of Hospitality and Tourism Management • Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT New Course of Study The Associate of Science in Baking and Pastry Arts, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) was offered for the first time in Academic year 2019-2020. This course of study aims to provide effective leadership training in the preparation and service of baked products on a national, regional and international level. Collaboration with Bloomberg The College of Business and Management (COBAM), through its School of Business Administration on April 11, 2019 officially opened the Bloomberg Lab at the Papine Campus. The lab is designed to enhance the hands-on learning experience for undergraduate and graduate students in finance and banking studies. With the integration of this technology, students will be able to enhance their skills through the application of theoretical learning in a more practical setting. These tools which are widely used in industry will provide training in areas such as portfolio optimization, market microstructure and valuation of securities as well as provide useful data and company reports needed for research work. Guest speaker at the launch ceremony, Mrs. Marlene Street-Forrest, Managing Director, Jamaica Stock Exchange noted that the establishment of the financial lab at UTech, Jamaica provides the opportunity for greater emphasis and understanding of not only the theoretical but the practical aspects of how capital market works. Student Scholarships Students Caleigh Campbell and Saveenia Kelly were awarded scholarships to study at Brandon University for one semester as part of the Canadian Student Exchange Dr. Andrea Sutherland Dean (wef January 2020)
