University of Technology, Jamaica 51 Council also delivered packages to bring Christmas cheer to families of the Highlight View community on December 23, 2020. Academic Affairs and Advocacy The Council hosted a number of initiatives to improve the experience of students including the first Raise IT GPA competition won by Ms. Leandra Hall and the introduction of online Study Lymes. The Council advocated for a revision in the fee payment plan which includes a minimum balance before students are charged late fees. In consultation with the Acting President, students were allowed to enrol upon the payment of their Enrolment Commitment Fee (ECF). “Free Day” The Free Day initiative aimed to show appreciation to students whereby the Council facilitated give-away prizes as well as perishable items such as cookies, cakes, etc. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council hosted the majority of the day online, with hourly give-aways as well as an island wide discount on all Island Grill purchases. Interfaculty Quiz The Students’ Union hosted the annual Interfaculty Quiz among the student body. Congratulations to the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies for winning this year’s competition.
