English Language Proficiency Test – Thursday, November 28, 2019 (Papine & Western Campuses)

The Proficiency Test in English will be administered as follows:

 Papine Campus    -     Thursday, November 28, 2019,  9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Western Campus -     Thursday, November 28, 2019,  9:00 a.m.

Exemptions

Applicants are not required to sit the test if they have:

• a Grade 1 pass in CSEC English A or an A in GCE O’Level English;
• a Grade 1 or 2 pass in CAPE Communication Studies;
• successfully completed an undergraduate degree from a recognized university;
• a diploma or an associate degree from a recognized tertiary institution;
• successfully completed the 1^st year communication modules at a community college or franchise associated with UTech, Jamaica.

The Cost

The cost of the test is J$1,800.00. Candidates may pay the fee at Paymaster, Bill Express, UTech, Jamaica Accounts Department or online before the day of the test.

**All candidates must register online before 12 noon on November 25, 2019 using the following link: https://www.utech.edu.jm/seac/login.asp

The Day of the Test

Candidates are required to bring the following to the test:

• the receipt  showing English Language Proficiency Test as verification of fee payment;
• a valid photo ID (school or work, passport, national  ID, passport size photograph certified by a justice of the peace or notary public); and
• a working pen and a number 2 pencil.

Papine Campus

Candidates should assemble in Room 47C-4 Shared Facilities one (1) hour before the start of the test

Western Campus

Candidates should report to the Main Office 30 minutes before the test

Results

Results will be available at  https://www.utech.edu.jm/seac/login.asp, for approximately two weeks after the test.  All candidates who paid prior to the test are required to visit the site to check their grades.  Those who pay after, will have to take their receipts to the Language Teaching and Research Centre for verification prior to the release of their results.

Important Notice:

Students have one opportunity to take the test; if you fail you must take Developmental English.
