Intermittent showers at the University of Technology, Jamaica Papine campus on February 5, 2026, could not dampen the spirited marching band, mascot parade and electric festivities as students, faculty, staff and alumni came together to celebrate the fourth staging of President’s Knights Day. Despite the showers, throughout the day, the energy never wavered as school pride and community spirit were celebrated with a vibrant lineup of activities, including musical performances, faculty exhibitions, talent showcases, and interactive games that fostered camaraderie among the university’s staff, students, and alumni. President’s Knights Day celebrations continued on February 6, as the Western campus hosted its festivities at Harmony Beach Park, Montego Bay.
Dr. Kevin Brown, President, UTech, Jamaica in delivering his message about belonging and legacy, shared, “we are having UTech’s Knights day because it’s important that you understand the institution that you are attending.” Reflecting on the university’s history, he noted its evolution from the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) to the University of Technology, Jamaica, highlighting that this transformation marked a significant milestone in expanding Jamaica’s capacity for higher education in technology, applied science, and professional studies.
Dr. Brown further highlighted the university’s legacy of producing national leaders, citing distinguished alumni such as His Excellency Major General (Ret’d) Antony Anderson, former head of the JDF, now Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, and Patrick Hylton, former President and Chief Executive Officer of National Commercial Bank Financial Group and current President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Mr. Percival Roberts, President of the UTech, Jamaica Students’ Union encouraged students to take full advantage of the day’s activities and enjoy the celebration.
