Occupational health, safety, and environmental management (OHSEM) is a field that focuses on protecting the health and safety of workers and the environment in the workplace. Several hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial) exist in workplaces which may result in occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses. OHSEM professionals work to identify, assess, and control these hazards in the workplace, and to develop and implement programs to preserve workers’ health, safety, and well-being.
