Course Details
The Bachelor of Pharmacy course of study is a full-time programme that consists of taught modules, practical modules, clinical externship/clerkship, internship, and a research project.
- General Education Courses: These foundational courses cover a range of subjects and help develop critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills.
- Pharmacy Specific Courses: These modules focus on the specialized knowledge and skills required for pharmacy practice.
- Specialized Courses: These modules focus on the specialized knowledge and skills required such as Health Promotion, Epidemiology, and Sterile Technology.
The programme is designed to equip graduates with the capabilities to:
- demonstrate their knowledge and skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and research;
- function effectively as pharmacy practitioners in pharmaceutical settings of industrial, hospital, clinical, and community practice;
- engage in continual educational courses of study to facilitate ongoing development and expansion of professional competence in both applied theory and clinical practice;
- pursue research or further studies in pharmacy and related areas.
The duration of the Bachelor of Pharmacy course of study is 4 years (8 semesters) offering students theoretical knowledge and experiential learning opportunities to excel as a valuable member of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare team.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy program is designed to prepare students for the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica licensing examination. Passing this exam is crucial for obtaining licensure to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in Jamaica

Entry Requirements
- 5 CSEC/GCE O-Level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and 1 other approved subject, preferably a Science-related subject, PLUS A-level or CAPE Units 1 & 2 passes in Chemistry and Biology and one (1) other subject, preferably Zoology, Mathematics or Physics.
- Applicants successful at the interview will need to take a psychometric test before acceptance can be considered.
