Description

The Undergraduate Admissions Assistant, under the guidance of the Admissions Supervisor, ensures that all programmes in each Faculty are fully subscribed and that selected applicants meet the matriculation requirements for various programmes in each Faculty.  He/she has the responsibility of making decisions on certain categories of applications based on criteria set by the Faculty.

Additionally, he/she recommends applicants for second-choice programmes and assists during enrolment periods.  He/she must also ensure that all applications are accounted for and corresponded with.  The incumbent also handles application queries, assists in the promotion of the University, provides and assists with analyzing statistical data and gives excellent customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and manage undergraduate applications in accordance with established policies and faculty criteria.

  • Review applications for completeness, conduct eligibility and matriculation checks, and prepare acceptance or rejection correspondence.

  • Liaise with Faculty/Programme Directors and relevant units to ensure timely admissions decisions.

  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and statistical data on applications, recruitment, enrolment, and retention.

  • Provide guidance and support to applicants, parents, staff, and stakeholders on admissions and registration procedures.

  • Assist with student registration, enrolment, transfers, readmissions, and add/drop processes.

  • Communicate with prospective students throughout the recruitment and admissions cycle.

  • Support promotional activities and outreach initiatives for University programmes.

  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties and other related tasks as assigned.

Experience & Education

  • At least two (2) years’ experience working in an Admissions or Faculty/Programme Office or similar environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Administrative Management or equivalent qualifications.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of all the programmes offered by the University including matriculation requirements, programme diet and per-credit fees
  • Sound knowledge of University matriculation requirements for taught undergraduate programmes
  • Knowledge of UTechJamaica’s admissions procedures, ordinances and regulations
  • Sound knowledge of records and file management systems and techniques
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizing, data entry, relational, time management and oral and written communication skills.

Benefits

Salary range: Band 6 $2,803,771.00 p.a. – $3,770,760.00 p.a.
