Description
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for preparing laboratories for classes and assisting students in conducting and recording experiments. He/she will also assist Lecturers in developing and executing laboratories as well as give feedback to Lecturers and Technologists on necessary updates required on lab equipment, supplies and lab efficiency as needed. The Laboratory Technician is also to ensure safety standards are adhered to by all users of the laboratory as well as effecting the calibration and maintenance of electrical power and instrumentation equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities
Experience & Education
The preferred applicant should possess:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with the required specialization
- two (2) years’ working experience in a laboratory environment/as a technician in an industrial setting
- knowledge of common power/instrumentation processes
- sound knowledge of equipment maintenance and repairs
- knowledge of troubleshooting and testing electrical power/instrumentation systems
- good problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
- knowledge of equipment and material inventory management
