Health Services Manager

The Health Services Manager is responsible for coordinating and directing the overall administration of health services for UTech’s campuses across the Island in order to ensure the provision of efficient, cost-effective and high-quality health services to the University community.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Annual Operational Plan and budget for University Health Services.

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversee daily administrative and clinical support operations.

  • Develop, recommend, and implement policies and programmes aligned with best practices in primary health care.

  • Establish and monitor performance objectives, targets, and service delivery standards.

  • Monitor and evaluate service quality, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure effective response to student and staff health issues and emergencies.

  • Oversee facility safety, equipment maintenance, and disposal of unserviceable assets in accordance with University regulations.

  • Manage procurement and inventory of medical supplies, stationery, and equipment.

  • Supervise staff, including staffing allocation, performance appraisals, training, certification compliance, and disciplinary actions.

  • Coordinate health promotion initiatives, outreach programmes, and participation in University events.

  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual operational reports.

  • Serve on University committees, including Orientation, Graduation, Student Affairs, and Health Insurance Renewal.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

 

  • Registration with a recognized health professional regulatory body in Jamaica.
  • Master’s in Business Administration/Public Administration/Health Administration/Health Care Administration or equivalent qualifications.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ progressively responsible experience in health services management or administration.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the University of Technology, Jamaica Act, 1999, Charter, Statutes, Ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of health and medical care, and related products and services.
  • Working knowledge of health systems and government legislation relating to health care delivery in the public sector and university environment, in particular.
  • Budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Strategic Management capability

 

Other Requirements

Specialized training in Basic Life Support (BLS),

  • Counselling skills.
  • Supervisory management.
  • Basic project management
  • Customer service

Benefits

Salary range: Band 10 – $ 6,333,301.00 p.a. – $ 8,517,586.00 p.a.
