Description
The Director, ICT Security, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the University’s cybersecurity, information security, data protection, and cyber risk management programmes. The role safeguards the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all institutional information assets by establishing robust security governance frameworks, directing cyber operations, and ensuring compliance with international cybersecurity and privacy standards. The Director leads enterprise security strategy, cyber defense operations, risk management, regulatory compliance, and incident response, while embedding a secure-by-design culture across all technology initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and execute the University’s Cybersecurity and Data Protection Strategy, including multi-year roadmaps and governance frameworks.

Lead cyber risk management, mitigation programmes, and ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, COBIT, CIS) and data protection legislation.

Advise Executive Leadership on cyber risk posture and serve on Enterprise Risk and Audit Committees.

Direct Security Operations, including threat monitoring, vulnerability management, penetration testing, endpoint and network security.

Lead institutional cyber incident and crisis response, including digital forensics and coordination with national authorities.

Oversee data protection and privacy governance, ensuring lawful processing and safeguarding of personal data.

Direct secure IT architecture and engineering across networks, data centres, cloud platforms, endpoints, and identity systems.

Ensure secure IT operations across campuses and remote sites, including third-party and vendor security oversight.

Promote cybersecurity awareness, training, and a culture of cyber resilience across the institution.

Lead cybersecurity teams, manage budgets, oversee investments, and drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Identify, assess, remediate, and document security vulnerabilities and breaches.

Develop and implement institution-wide security protocols and best practices.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
- have a minimum of five (5) years in a similar capacity
Essential Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, IT, or related field
(Bachelor’s + extensive experience acceptable) - Professional cybersecurity certification:
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Or equivalent
Desirable Qualification:

- Data Privacy Certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CDPO)
- ITIL / COBIT / ISO 27001 Lead Implementer
- PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile Certifications
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Sound knowledge of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.
- Sound knowledge of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
- Working knowledge of various security technologies such as network and application firewalls, host intrusion prevention and anti-virus.
Other Requirements
Specialized training in ISACA’s Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) Certification,
- CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) Certification
- CompTIA security+ certification
Benefits
Salary range: Band 10 – $ 6,333,301.00 p.a. – $ 8,517,586.00 p.a.
