School of Public Health & Health Technology
The School of Public Health and Health Technology (SPHHT), located at 21 Slipe Pen Road, Kingston 5, is the only tertiary institution in Jamaica providing training in Public Health Inspection and Public Health Nursing.
The University of Technology, Jamaica is the national university whose strategic goals and objectives are achieved through its Colleges, Schools and Faculties. The Joint Colleges of Medicine, Oral Health and Veterinary Sciences was established in 2011 and became operational in January 2012 during the 2011/2012 academic year. The School of Public Health and Health Technology (SPHHT) became one of the functional units within the Joint Colleges of Medicine, Oral Health and Veterinary Sciences. The SPHHT is the only tertiary institution in Jamaica providing training in Public Health Inspection and Public Health Nursing.
The School of Public Health and Health Technology (formerly known as the West Indies School of Public Health) is located at 21 Slipe Pen Road, Kingston 5 . The University of Technology, Jamaica assumed responsibility for the facility from the Government of Jamaica/ Ministry of Education in September 2000.

BSc. Environmental Health
MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
- Five passes at CXC General Proficiency with grades at 1&11 (Grade 111 as of 1998) or CSEC or at GCE ‘O’ Level, with grades at A, B or C in English language, Mathematics, Biology/Human and Social Biology and Chemistry. One other pass at the CXC general proficiency or CSEC or GCE ‘O’ Level in an advanced subject*.
- Attendance at a panel interview is required for all selected applicants.
- The compulsory subjects should be obtained in no more than two sittings. Candidates with other types of academic qualifications will be evaluated in accordance with the University’s regulations governing academic equivalence.
- *Clothing & Textile, Home Management, Religious Education, Office Procedure, Principle of Business, Typing and Shorthand are NOT considered approved subjects for matriculation.

BSc. Public Health Nursing
MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
- Candidates must be a registered nurse and registered midwife with current licenses to practice nursing and midwifery in Jamaica or home country.
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant post-registration work experience is required.
- Candidates may be required to attend a selection interview.
- Candidates must meet the Nursing Council of Jamaica's requirements for registration.

BSc. Occupational Health and Safety
MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
- Five passes at G.C.E O' level with grades A, B or C or Caribbean Secondary Examination (CSEC) Levels 1or 2 in English language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and one other pass in an approved subject.
- Attendance at panel interview is required for all selected applicants. Candidates with other types of academic qualifications will be evaluated in accordance with the University's regulations governing academic equivalence.

Post Basic Diploma in Meat and Other Foods
MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
- The course is primarily intended for Public Health Inspectors who are holders of the Diploma in Public Health Inspection.
- Diploma holders must have two (2) years working experience as a Public Health Inspector.
