The Actuarial Science programme, offered by the School of Mathematics and Statistics, is a rigorous undergraduate degree designed to equip students with the skills necessary for a career in risk management and financial analysis. The programme integrates mathematics, statistics, and economics to provide a solid foundation for assessing and managing risk in industries such as insurance, finance, and pensions. This programme prepares students for the preliminary exams of professional actuarial bodies like the Society of Actuaries (SOA), ensuring they are competitive in the job market. Students can specialize in areas such as life insurance, pensions, or enterprise risk management, tailored to individual career goals. The primary objective is to develop graduates who are adept at analysing financial risks and who can apply mathematical models to real-world financial scenarios. The face-to-face mode of delivery allows students to engage directly with experienced faculty and industry professionals while benefiting from collaborative learning and practical application of theoretical concepts, preparing them for the demands of the actuarial profession.
