Course Details
The BSc in Dietetics and Nutrition course of study is designed to produce competent and dynamic Dietetics/Nutrition professionals who can serve as integral members of a health care team in the changing information driven health care services industry.Â
The mode of delivery of the programme facilitates student-centred learning and involves a mixture of lectures, tutorial and laboratory sessions, group projects, presentations and field visits to promote experiential learning.Â
In addition to nurturing mastery in the requisite professional competencies, the curriculum will equip graduates to exhibit professionalism and perform supervisory and quality assurance roles in an environment, which stimulates creativity, maximizes student potential, and provides a foundation for more advanced studies.Â
The programme is designed to equip graduates with the capabilities to:Â
- Apply for immediate entry into an approved internship or postgraduate programme in the area of dietetics and nutrition.Â
- Provide nutritional care for individuals and groups through assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and documentation.Â
- Utilize effective oral and written communication skills in the practice of dietetics and nutrition, including the practical application of modern information technology.Â
- Provide nutritional education and counselling to consumers, clients and other professionals for health promotion, maintenance, treatment and rehabilitation.Â
- Participate in the management of food service operations to meet the food and nutrition needs of target markets.Â
The award of Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition requires the successful completion of all modules in the curriculum, including the work experience practicum at an approved job site.Â
NOTE: In order to practice as a Dietitian, an internship will be required following the successful completion of this degree.Â

Entry Requirements
- 5 CSEC/GCE O-Level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Human & Social Biology, one other science subject preferably Chemistry and one other approved subject.
- An interview is required.
