The Civil Engineering curriculum is vast & comprises select modules with the culminative goal of achieving the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. The course of study is steeped in the fundamental principles of science and engineering – providing a solid theoretical base complemented by a rich experience in engineering laboratory practice. The first two years of the course covers the principles of Mathematics, Physics and Engineering Sciences along with an introduction to Engineering Design. Students’ design experiences start from Year 1, escalating gradually in range & complexity throughout the course of study. This curriculum provides and equips students with opportunities to experience the principles and standard practices which they will be exposed to and operate by within the industry. The final two years of study nurtures the technical competence to apply the knowledge for Design and Analysis of Civil Engineering projects. Students will also navigate the theoretical and practical applications of design where they will receive hands-on training through a supportive and engaging, project-based curriculum. The course of study specializes in (but is certainly not limited to): Construction, Structural Design, Environmental, and Transportation areas of Civil Engineering. The course concludes with students undertaking ground-breaking, real world major projects, which are completed under the supervision of our lecturers – who are themselves licensed and accomplished Professional Engineers. The B. Eng. in Civil Engineering is aptly designed to ensure that students graduate with the skills, acumen and expertise required to transition into immediate employment in preparation for subsequent license as a Professional Engineer.
