Prerequisite and Programme Pathway
The Introduction to Drone Technology in Disaster Recovery (I-DRP) course is a required prerequisite for participants who intend to enroll in the Applied Drone Technology in Disaster Recovery Programme (A-DRP).
Completion of I-DRP ensures that participants enter the in-person program with a shared understanding of regulatory frameworks, operational concepts, mission planning approaches, and sensor technologies used in disaster-response UAV operations.
Participants who do not intend to continue into the applied training may still benefit from I-DRP as a stand-alone introductory course covering the theory and strategic use of drone technology in disaster management and emergency operations.
Course Structure and Delivery Format
The I-DRP course is delivered entirely online through instructor-led webinar sessions.
The programme consists of:
- Two (2) live online instructional sessions
- Approximately three (3) hours per session (9AM – 12PM CDT)
- Total instructional time: approximately six (6) hours
Sessions are delivered in real time by experienced instructors with operational experience in UAV deployment, aerial data collection, and disaster-response operations.
All sessions will be recorded and made available for asynchronous viewing, allowing participants to review the material following the live instruction.
Participants who intend to continue into the Applied Drone Technology in Disaster Recovery Programme (A-DRP) are strongly encouraged to attend the live sessions to ensure full participation and engagement with the instructors.
