- Natural products isolation for drug discovery especially from endemic plant species and microorganisms aided by dereplication procedures
- Structure elucidation of novel compounds using NMR, X-Ray, LC-MS and other technologies
- Biocatalysis of xenobiotics by microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) for enzyme and biochemical mechanism discovery
- Genetic engineering of novel enzymes and organisms for the overproduction of proteins or metabolites using advanced biotechnology techniques
- Bacterial identification and taxonomy as a means of discovering new taxa and uncovering their potential.
