Entry Requirements / Fee Guidelines / Apply Online

There are three entry pathways with both the January and August intakes
- Enter MPhil/PhD at Year-1 and complete minimum of four years –if holding an undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree in the built environment.
- Enter for MPhil/PhD at Year-2 of study omitting Year-1 and complete minimum of three years –if already graduated with a taught Masters or equivalent degree in the built environment and holding a thesis in the Specialisation Area of choice. NB: All must satisfy the required six (6) credits of research methodology prior to completing MPhil Year-2, and before advancing into PhD Year-3.
- Enter for PhD at Year-3 of study omitting the MPhil-Year-1 and MPhil-Year-2 and complete minimum of two years –if holding a MPhil or equivalent degree in the built environment in the Specialisation Area of choice, from UTech, Ja or elsewhere.
Architecture specialisation entry requires an architecture bachelor or masters degree of RIBA Part 1 and, or RIBA Part 2, or equivalent
The University of Technology, Jamaica requires for research degrees, a first class or second-class honours degree, or equivalent qualification. The normal entry requirement for the degree of MPhil is a Bachelors’s degree in a discipline. The normal entry requirement for the degree of PhD is a Master’s degree in a discipline that is appropriate to the proposed research, and which has included research training and a research project. In exceptional cases, applicants who have a good honours degree (or equivalent) may apply for direct registration to an MPhil and PhD
