tudents from across western Jamaica ended their summer on a high note at the UTech Jamaica STEM Summer Camp 2024, held at the University’s Western Campus in Montego Bay, St. James. The two-week camp introduced students to STEM fields such as Robotics, Mechatronics, Drone Technology, Videography, and Photography, along with interactive STEM challenges. Held in the tourism capital, the camp emphasized STEM’s role in tourism careers and included field trips, career coaching, and wellness sessions. A total of 81 high school students attended, demonstrating both student and parent enthusiasm for STEM education as Jamaica moves toward a digital economy and Industry 4.0. Students were recognized for their exceptional performances and participation. Miss Antionette Smith, WesternCampus Coordinator and STEM Summer Camp conceptualizer, extended appreciation to the sponsors, donors, and partners who made UTech’s first Western STEM Camp possible.
