UTech, Ja. Staff Gain Insights from Financial Leader Michael Lee-Chin at Wealth Creation Seminar he Division of Human Resources and Administration hosted a Wealth Creation Seminar on September 3, 2024, for staff development. The seminar featured prominent financial leader, the Honourable Michael Lee-Chin, OJ, Chairman of the NCB Financial Group, and aimed to empower staff with insights on investment, financial planning, and entrepreneurship. In his welcome, President, Dr. Kevin Brown thanked the HR Division, emphasizing the university’s commitment to supporting staff growth. “We aim to support all aspects of your work, life, and experience,” he stated. Dr. Brown highlighted the essential role of staff in fostering a productive learning environment, noting, “This university exists because of our people.” Mr. Lee-Chin shared his wealth-building principles, including: Finding a role model: Learn from successful figures in finance. Developing a clear plan: Create a structured wealth-building strategy. Following proven strategies: Emulate the practices of successful investors. He outlined five foundational “Laws of Wealth Creation”: 1.Own a few high-quality businesses. 2.Understand these businesses thoroughly. 3.Invest in industries with long-term growth potential. 4.Use leverage prudently. 5.Hold investments for the long term. Encouraging staff to focus on the “3 P’s - predicting future trends, planning strategically, and persevering, Mr. Lee-Chin concluded by emphasizing discipline and advocacy, stating, “Successful people advocate because they believe in what they’re doing.” The seminar concluded with an engaging Q&A session, in which staff members eagerly participated, demonstrating the knowledge gained.
