21 January – March 2022 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica The UTech, Jamaica Alumni Relations Office, Advancement Division, hosted a virtual professional development session for University alumni and present students on February 24, 2022 via Zoom, themed “Setting Goals and Staying Focused in a Season of Disruption”. In his welcome, Mr. Hector Wheeler, Associate Vice President, Advancement, expressed gratitude to Alumni for joining the session, noting that their participation indicated a “continuing interest” in University of Technology, Jamaica. He also expressed appreciation to guest speaker Ms. Tanique Easy, for providing timely insight and guidance, noting that the past three years have been filled with disorder and major life- and world-changing events, which has proven to be a crisis for some and an opportunity for others. Also welcoming participants, Miss Cheryl Messam, Alumni Relations Manager who chaired the session, noted that the continuing Alumni Meet-Up series is geared towards providing personal and professional development opportunities for current students and Alumni. Ms. Easy, who is an alumna of the University’s Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies and a Life Coach, provided participants with timely advice on setting realistic goals and sustaining personal development and growth. Underscoring the importance of the right mindset and attitude, Ms. Easy walked participants through useful information on tapping into their abilities, knowledge, values, confidence and optimism, in order to set, stick to, and achieve their goals.
