VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | April 2018 32 Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Jamaica in the field of Education Medal Tally at 2018 Commonwealth Games April 4 – 15, 2018 Prof. Vernon Buchanan Mrs. Patricia Eves-McKenzie Professor Vernon Buchanan, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Mrs. Patricia Eves-McKenzie, retired UTech, Jamaica Senior Counsellor have been awarded the 2018 Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Jamaica in the field of Education. The awards were presented at the Prime Minister’s Jamaica 55 Commemorative Medal of Appreciation Awards Ceremony held April 25, 2018 at Jamaica House. The Prime Minister’s Award is one of the main activities in the Jamaica 55 programme for celebrating and awarding outstanding Jamaicans. Awards were presented to individuals and groups who, in the opinion of the Prime Minister, have “made significant contributions to the development of the economic, social, cultural or political fabric of Jamaica.” President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie and the entire University Community join in congratulating Professor Buchanan and Mrs. Eves-McKenzie on their distinguished service and commitment to the University and to the nation which been recognized in this way.
