WHEN DO I APPLY? Application opens October 3, 2022 Application deadlines: Early Bird December 2, 2022 Regular March 31, 2023 All applicants are encouraged to apply early for priority consideration. There are two options when applying for admission. Early Bird option and Regular option. Late applications are only considered if there is space in the programme. The Early Bird option is recommended primarily for highly qualified applicants, summer applicants and international applicants who would like an early decision on their application. An early bird applicant is one who has submitted an application along with supporting documentation by the stipulated deadline. Qualified applications submitted during this period will be considered for admission and given an early decision. Any applicant may apply during this period. The Regular option is the standard application option. ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES . SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATIONS All applicants are encouraged to apply online. The online process is FREE and is designed to make the submission of your application as easy and accurate as possible and should last approximately 20 minutes. SUBMISSION OF PAPER APPLICATION FORMS Applicants who are not applying online must either print an application form from the University’s website or obtain one from the Office of Admissions & Enrolment Management. A nonrefundable application fee of JA$1,000.00 for Jamaican residents and US$40.00 for Non-Jamaicans must be paid at the Accounts department before the collection of application forms or upon submission of application forms downloaded from the website. All downloaded application forms and proof of qualifications must be submitted to an Admissions Representative along with the receipt of payment. APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT EITHER AN ON-INE APPLICATION OR A PAPER APPLICATION. 1. Read the Summary of Undergraduate Courses of Study to identify your 1st and 2nd choice of course of study. 2. Click on “Apply Online”. 3. Click on “Start a new application”. 4. Complete all four (4) sections and submit your application on-line. 5. Print Application Summary Page. 6. Supporting documents should be emailed to the Office of Admissions and Enrolment Management at applicationdocuments@utech.edu.jm but must be sent/taken in with the confirmation page, no later than December 2, 2022 for Early Bird applications; and no later than March 31, 2023 for RegularApplications. Applicants pending qualifications/results should ensure to email a certified copy of birth certificate, then submit results and other documents by the deadline. Submitting certified documents Copies of academic, birth (Jamaican Birth Certificate or Jamaican Certificate of Citizenship) and marriage (if applicable) certificates along with your Tax Registration Number (TRN) must be submitted along with the completed application form. Copies of passports may also be submitted. These copies must be certified and stamped only by a Minister of Religion, Justice of the Peace, Attorney-at-Law or Medical Practioner. ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS SHOULD ONLY BE SUBMITTED UPON REQUEST BY THE UNIVERSITY. Documents that have been tampered with will not be accepted and the applicant will forfeit chances of admission to the University. Where a paper based application is being submitted, the application and supporting documents must be returned to the Office of Admissions & Enrolment Management, 237 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6 or at our Western Campus, 17 Dome Street, Montego Bay, by December 2, 2022 for Early Bird application or March 31, 2023 for a Regular Application. Transcripts from other tertiary institutions must also be submitted by the closing date for receipt of applications. It is not necessary to obtain a transcript from a secondary school. Forms not properly completed, without proof of processing fee (for applications submitted manually), or without supporting documentation will not be processed. Once you have completed and submitted your application form along with supporting documents, the Office of Admissions & Enrolment Management will send you an acknowledgement letter advising you that we have received your application and it is being processed. Depending on the course of study, you may be invited to attend an interviewor sit a test. This will vary depending on the course of study. If you are currently taking examinations, you may receive a conditional offer until you have satisfied the entry requirements. Early Bird applicants will be given a decision no later than January 31, 2023 Regular applicants will be given a decision no later than June 30, 2023 Applicants to summer courses of study will be advised of their status by March 31, 2023. Each applicant who is offered a place at the University will be so advised by a letter from the Office of Admissions & Enrolment Management. These applicants are required to pay a non-refundable Enrolment Commitment Deposit (ECD). This fee will be applied to the University fees upon enrolment. An applicant’s acceptance can only be confirmed if the ECD has been paid. Late Submission of Applications Late applications will be considered if there is space in the course of study and the applicant is qualified. Applicants submitting late application should follow the normal procedure for submission of applications. Under-Subscribed Course of Study The delivery of any course of study is dependent on a specific number of students registering at the commencement of the academic year. The University reserves the right to decide which courses of study are offered. For those that have to be cancelled, fees will be refunded in full. Second Choice Course of Study Each applicant should submit one application form to the Institution. An applicant will only be considered for a second choice course of study if space is available. Age for Acceptance An applicant will be considered for a course of study if s/he meets the normal matriculation requirements and is at least 17 years of age by December of the year of admission.
