UTech, Ja Graduation 2020

C ongratulations! I am sure you have heard this word many times before. You may even consider it an overused cliché. According to the Oxford Online Dictionary , the word “congratulations” is used as an expression of praise for an outstanding achievement, or to extend good wishes on a special occasion. It heralds a time of great joy and exuberance, and is a most suitable word to use on the occasion of your graduation. So, congratulations, Class of 2020 of the University of Technology, Jamaica. As a group, you are unique, graduating at a time when Jamaica and the world are expe- riencing uncertain and unprecedented times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. None of us has escaped the challenges of these times. The University of Technology, Jamaica, has prepared you to exercise this resilience to be visionaries, critical/ new thinkers, inno- vators . . . alumni who are prepared to take on the world and make it a better place.
