University of Technology, Jamaica 55 the Penrith Early Childhood Educational Center, located at 12 Penrith Road, Crossroads, Kingston 5, by re-painting the exterior of the school. y The Law Division, SOBA held its 4th annual CAPE Law Workshop for high school students on Saturday May 18, 2019. Lecturers covered the CAPE Law Syllabi for both Units 1 and 2, all at no cost to the students. Students participated in the workshop from 8:30am to 5:00pm which was facilitated by six (6) lecturers. y The Production and Operations Management Graduating Class of 2019 distributed care packages to several Children’s Homes. Monthly visits to Homestead Place of Safety for Girls were however, suspended in March, 2020 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. y The Jamaica Business and Economics Society of Tomorrow (JBEST) along with the COBAM Honour Society and the Accounting Student Association participated in a voluntary outreach activity that was initiated by the Feeding of the 5000 Charity Group on February 26, 2020. The aim of the activity was to provide breakfast for members of The Golden Age Home in the Mountain View Area and also to the homeless in the Downtown Area. JBEST contributed various items needed for the food preparation process and also assisted with the distribution of the food products at The Golden Age Home. y Students made donations to the City of Refuge Children’s Home. They visited the home a week prior to staging a Christmas treat for them on December 21, 2020 at the Papine Campus’ football field. The major objective was for the students to undertake and appreciate philanthropy. Each student was assigned a child and acted as a big brother/sister and on the day of the treat, that child was their primary responsibility. Students also wrapped donation boxes prior to the treat and placed them at several businesses around Kingston. They received a lot of support from these businesses and were able to donate toys, among other things. y Staff of the General Management Division, SOBA, made a cash donation to Elsie Beman Home for Girls in Havendale. A Hellshire Beach clean-up was done by students and staff of General Management Seminar. y The School of Business Administration Western Campus hosted its Bi-Annual Taxation workshop on November 16, 2019. The focus of the workshop was to create a relationship between stakeholders and the business owners in Montego Bay and the surrounding communities. y The JDSEEL hosted the first annual CAPE Entrepreneurship lecture in April, 2019. Over 300 students preparing to sit the CAPE Entrepreneurship examination, from 18 schools attended the lecture.
