University of Technology, Jamaica 28 y The number of Academic Misconduct Inquiry Panel (AMIP) cases decreased from twenty-three (23) for Semester 2 April/May 2019 to seventeen (17) in Semester 1 December 2019 examinations, resulting in a decrease of 26%. Additionally, there was only one AMIP case for Summer Session 2019. The Academic Misconduct Inquiry Panel met several times during the 2018/9 and 2019/20 academic years to review the cases of the students who were alleged to have performed various academic misconducts in their assessment examinations. Appeals by students were also held by the Special Appeal Committee(SAC). y The UEC continued to provide invigilator services for approximately 51 students with special needs for Semester 2 April/May 2019. For July/Summer Session examinations the UEC catered to 11 students with special needs and 48 students for Semester 1 December, 2018/19 examinations, this sometimes included providing a writer/reader and maintaining suitable examination venues. - Semester 2, April 2019 – 51 students - Summer 2019 – 11 students - Semester 1, December 2019 – 48 students Office of the Assistant Registrar, Student Services Annual Student Leadership Conference The Student Services Department, hosted the 21st Annual Student Leadership Conference under the theme “Unleashing the Knight in YOU” May 6 – 7, 2019 at the Papine Campus and from May 8 – 10, 2019 at the Moorlands Camp site in Manchester. A total of 106 students from the Students’ Union Council, Clubs and Societies, and Halls of Residence registered to attend the conference. This showed a 21% decrease in registration when compared to the same period the previous year. The general objective of the Student Leadership Conference is to inspire student leaders to serve in a manner that will influence positive and holistic growth amongst the student population and establish trends for successful leadership. The student leaders were exposed to training in various areas, as well as team building exercises aimed at equipping them for their leadership duties for the academic year (see appendices for photos). The series of activities and events initiated by the conference planning committee also inspired the student leaders to embrace the UTech, Jamaica Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Innovation, Team Spirit, Accountability and Service. Orientation/Week of Welcome for New and Transfer students The University of Technology, Jamaica welcomed new and transfer students during its annual Orientation/ Western Campus Academic Induction Ceremony, August 22, 2019.
