Page 87 University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016 COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT OPERATIO AND PROJECTS DIVISION Major Patrick Cameron Chief Operations and Projects Officer The Operations and Projects Office has over-arching responsibility for much of the support services of the University to include:-  Maintenance of buildings, equipment and infrastructure  Physical planning  Design, development and construction of new facilities  Retrofitting of existing facilities  Safety and Security of all UTech property and personnel  Operation and maintenance of the University’s fleet of motor vehicles  Disaster Management and Recovery These support services are delivered through the Facilities Management Department (FMD), Project Management Unit (PMU), and Safety and Security Department (SS) In the period under review, three major sub-projects were completed. Lab Upgrade The refurbishing and upgrading of 15 teaching laboratories spanning four faculties was completed in August 2015. Electrical Upgrade The upgraded Campus Electrical Distribution system was commissioned in June 2016. Infrastructure Upgrade and Rehabilitation. The Infrastructure Works sub-project involved the upgrading of the campus potable water distribution system, installation of major storm water drainage system, extensive civil works infrastructure to facilitate central sewage connection to the public system, extensive rehabilitation of the road network and the installation of data and telephone infrastructure. Traffic management In April 2016, the long-awaited traffic signals at the campus main entrance were commissioned. To
