The faculty provided training for more than 50 participants from the MLGCD and local planning authorities. The faculty is now established as the centre for training in ICC standard building code for the region. MOU with JAM-HABITAT The UTech, Ja signed a memorandumof Understanding with JAM Habitat for involvement in the execution of the BRACED Project. Lincoln Institute funded research project The Lincoln Institute provided research funding for the study of attitudes towards property taxation in Jamaica. The research was carried out by a team from the Division of Land Economy and Valuation Surveying, with Ms Tina Beale as lead researcher. The study will be published by the Lincoln Institute. Establishment of UNESCO Network Led by Dr Patricia Green, Head of the Caribbean School of Architecture, the FoBE initiated a UNESCO-UNITWIN north-south-south network entitled “Sustainable Built Environment in Small Island Developing States / Historic Urban Landscapes (SBESIDS-HUL). Phase 1 of Papine Redevelopment Plan Completed The University, through the Faculty of the Built Environment has been integrally involved with the development of Papine as a “university town” for almost two decades.
