UTech, Jamaica 2015-16 Annual Report

Friendship Primary. A best of five (5) matches was played and Lyssons Primary was awarded first place. For the high school segment, nine (9) high schools competed. Wolmer’s High School for Girls took the title when they toppled Camperdown winning the female category. In the male category Frome Technical High School dethroned defending champions Camperdown High School. Ten (10) teams competed in the club and tertiary category. G.C Foster female volleyball team lost their title to the UWI, Mona female team while UWI, Mona male volleyball team won the male tournament title over Vikings Club. The Outreach Project The UWI Pelican/UTech, Jamaica Knights outreach project reached out to the Mona High School. The group of thirty (30) volunteers consisting of students (26) and staff (4) from both universities visited the school on Saturday, September 12, 2015 to clean class rooms, paint buildings and organize the school’s library. The Results of the UWI Pelicans UTech, Jamaica Knights Championship The UTech, Jamaica Knights emerged winners of the UWI Pelican/UTech, Jamaica Knights Sports Championship. UTech, Jamaica won the Championship 4-3. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the sport programme of both universities and made a modest profit. Intercollegiate Competitions UTech, Jamaica participated in twelve (12) Intercol competitions with eight (8) male and four (4) female teams. Five (5) of our teams did not compete in Intercol for the 2015-2016 period. Three of our male teams (basketball, table tennis and UTech, Jamaica and UWI, Mona student representatives holding the Championship trophy with Title Sponsor, Reggae Jammins representatives at the Press launch held on September 9th, 2015 at the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship and Ethics Conference Room.
