The contract was awarded following a rigorous competitive process led by the consultancy arm of the College of Business and Management and the School of Graduate Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship (SGSRE). Global Entrepreneurship Monitor NCB provided sponsorship for the (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) GEM Research project to the tune of $4.5 Million. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) is a research project involving a consortium of over 60 countries worldwide which measures entrepreneurial activity within and among participating countries. Data is collected by each country annually and is harmonized and dispersed by the GEM consortium. Each country produces a national report and GEM compiles all results into a global report. UTech, Jamaica has led the research programme for Jamaica since 2005. Linkages The School of Business Administration maintained its franchise relationships with the following Community Colleges:- Brown’s Town Community College, Knox Community College, Portmore Community College and Montego Bay Community College. • Knox Community college commenced offering the BBA Course of Study at its Mandeville Campus in September 2015. The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management forged the following linkages: • The British High Commission contracted twenty students to work at the Queen’s Birthday Party on June 12.. • The JW& Nephew Academy partnered with SHTM to offer training in Bar Operations to their clients at their Academy. The training proposal was developed by SHTM lecturers Mrs Anakaye McLean and Mrs Sharmon Johnston who also facilitated the training in August 2015. • Chef Karl Thomas, Mr Courtney Bailey, Ms Antonette Grant and three students were guests at the Making the Cut Pork Seminar geared towards Restaurateurs, Chefs & Caterers, Food & Beverage Managers, Culinary Officials, Culinary Students and Pork Lovers. The seminar, sponsored by CB Foods was held on February 3, 2016 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. • Chef Khalil Campbell was selected by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica to be a part of the national delegation to the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition 2015. The event was held on June 12 Team Prostyler has the rapt attention of the judges as they demonstrate the use of their prototype.
