Course Details
There are three specializations in the course of study:Â
- Art and Science of Coaching
Students in this specialization explore the techniques and theories behind effective coaching and athletic development. They learn how to design training programmes, motivate athletes, and apply sports psychology to enhance performance. Graduates can pursue roles as sports coaches, personal trainers or team managers at various levels. - Athletic Training
This specialization focuses on injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation, allowing students to delve deeply into theoretical and practical best practices of sports medicine and therapeutic modalities. Graduates are prepared for careers such as; athletic trainers, rehabilitation specialists, sports therapists, or injury prevention consultants, working with athletes to ensure optimal recovery and peak performance. - Sport Management
This specialization is designed for students interested in the business and organizational side of sports. Sports Management covers the areas of sports marketing, management, and event coordination. Graduates can enter the field as sports managers, event coordinators, marketing executives, or administrators, taking leadership roles in sports organizations, clubs, and other governing bodies.Â
All students are afforded the opportunity to conduct a final research project to immerse themselves into the nuances of sports acknowledging problem resolution through a scientific approach. Â
Students are also privileged in applying theoretical knowledge to a real work setting during their internship/practicum module. Real work experience is gained by means of working with our sports industry partners, increasing their marketability and networking in the industry, increasing their level of employability. Â
Modules are delivered in a face-to-face format, supported by the Moodle platform and its software application, to ensure effective and interactive learning. With a solid foundation in both the science and practice of sports, the course of study prepares work-ready graduates to excel in various dynamic and rewarding roles across the global sports sector.Â

Entry Requirements
- Five (5) CXC (or equivalent) subjects at CSEC to include any two (2) science subjects, Mathematics, English Language and any other subject.
- CAPE Physical Education (PE) Unit 1 and/or 2 may be used as a substitute for a CSEC science subject. (Such that if an applicant has both Units they may be used to substitute for 2 Science subjects).
