Course Details
The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology course of study is a comprehensive programme delivered with a blend of theoretical and practical modules in specialized disciplines such as Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Histotechnology, Immunohematology and Medical Microbiology. The curriculum also covers current trends and technological advancements in the medical laboratory, quality assurance and principles of ethical considerations in patient care. The course includes a six-month clinical internship at an approved public or private medical laboratory. The programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to perform medical laboratory tests, interpret results and make accurate clinical diagnoses. Additionally, students will enhance their research skills through designing and undertaking a compulsory major research capstone project. Graduates may take up employment as medical technologists, clinical laboratory scientists or biomedical scientists and have multiple career fields open to them in hospital labs, private labs, food and beverage industry, research institutions, public health and education.Â

- 5 CSEC/GCE O-Level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology and one other approved subject.
