The Bachelor of Science in Computing is designed to equip students with the knowledge and technical expertise needed to excel in the dynamic field of computing. Course Details

Purpose and Goals: The program aims to prepare students to excel in the computing field by providing a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. It equips graduates with skills to innovate, adapt, and lead in the technology sector. 

Majors: 

  • Computer Science (CS): Primarily deals with the theoretical foundations of computation, algorithms, and data structures. Students will gain strong analytical and problem-solving skills and learn how to design and implement complex software systems. They’ll also delve into areas like mathematics and logic. 
  • Information Technology (IT): Prepare students to meet the computer technology needs of business, government, healthcare, schools, and other kinds of organizations. The (IT) major will have the following concentrations: Enterprise Systems (ES), Information Systems (IS), Multimedia (MM) and Networking (NW). 
  • Enterprise Systems (ES): train students to capture, represent, organize, transform, manage, and present information securely and efficiently. Students learn about data modelling, database design, and SQL, crucial skills for managing and manipulating large volumes of data. 
  • Information Systems (IS): focuses on the integration of IT solutions with business processes. Students will investigate and understand the central role information plays in organizations, society, and the broader economy through the examination of information and knowledge management at the strategic, analytical, and technical levels. 
  • Multimedia (MM): focuses on the creation, design, and management of digital content, including graphics, audio, video, and interactive media. This concentration often involves web design, digital media, and user experience design. 
  • Networking (NW): covers the design, implementation, and management of computer networks. Students learn about network protocols, security, wireless communication, and network infrastructure. 

Core Curriculum: The first two years feature a common core of 65 credits, covering programming, mathematics, communication and critical thinking, IT, computer networks, database design, software engineering, physics, community service and professional ethics.  

Students choose their specialization in the third year, focusing on advanced topics and electives; one University elective and two-three Upper SCIT electives dependent on major.
