The University conferred honorary degrees on the eminent Jamaicans during the virtual 2020 graduation ceremony streamed on YouTube on Sunday, November 22, 2020. T he University hosted a special awards ceremony on December 22, 2020 in honour of the highest academic achievers from its Graduating Class of 2020 who qualified to be named to the prestigious President’s Honour Roll, and to receive the President’s Pin. The President’s Honour Roll recognizes students from the graduating cohort who have attained qualifications of a grade ‘A’ and GPA of 3.75 – 4.00. Also presented on the occasion, was The Edward Seaga Award honouring the memory of the late former Prime Minster and Chancellor, UTech, Jamaica, in recognition of his outstanding national service and contribution to the development of the University. The award is presented to the First Class Honours undergraduate student with the highest overall GPA in the academic year. T he Graduating Class of 2020 was celebrated in a virtual ceremony streamed via the University’s YouTube channel on November 22, 2020. The current restrictions on physical gatherings owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, prohibited the University from hosting the traditional graduation ceremony, however the video production ensured that graduates were able to celebrate their significant milestone with family and friends who offered their congratulatory comments during the live stream.
