Students from the Papine High School received phone cards from the Department of Community Service and Development on June 22, 2020. The focus was placed on students who are sitting the CSEC exams in the summer and as such will need adequate support to facilitate the preparation. Each student received a phone card valued at $500 dollars. The phone cards were given in light of the challenges surrounding online learning and the urgent need for the students to continue their studies. Twenty students from Papine High received phone cards, while approximately 37 students in and around the UTech, Jamaica Papine Campus benefitted from the initiative. College of Health Sciences students and lecturers associated with the UTech, Jamaica Pharmaceutical Technology Students’ Association (UT- PTSA) on June 19, 2020 handed over well needed items to The Jamaica National Children’s Home to assist them with efforts to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The team donated sanitization and hygiene items including hand sanitizers, face masks and cleaning chemicals, as well as kitchen supplies, First Aid materials, personal care and laundry supplies estimated at a value of $75,000.
