3 February - March 2019 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica U Tech, Jamaica through the School of Architecture, Faculty of The Built Environment was in the spotlight at the recently concluded Government of Jamaica Houses of Parliament Design Competition. All five teams on the shortlist of applicants for the final round of the competition had connections with the Caribbean School of Architecture. Chosen from 24 submissions by 178 persons, the five teams were each awarded $2 million for advancing to this stage of the competition. Congratulations to faculty members, former and current students from the Faculty of The Built Environment for their strong contribution to the success of the Design Competition. Special congratulations to the winning design – “Out of Many, One People” with design lead Architect Evan Williams, announced at the awards ceremony on March 27, 2019. Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness congratulates Architect Dr. Patricia Green, Senior Lecturer, Caribbean School of Architecture on emerging among the five finalists in the Government of Jamaica Houses of Parliament Design Competition. Dr Green was a member of the design team for the ‘National Flower’ submission. The presentation was made at the Jamaica Conference Centre on February 2, 2019.
