Joining BbC Sessions

System Requirements

For the best experience using Blackboard Collaborate we recommend the following:

Browser: Use Chrome, Firefox or Safari for the best experience with BbC

Audio: Use a headset with a microphone

Camera: Ensure your Camera is working before the Session Starts

           

 Joining BbC through UTechOnline          

  1. To access your Online Class Session, Log in in to UTechOnline using your UTech Student Credentials.

  2. Select your course from your Dashboard.

    Note: BbC Sessions created in UTechOnline will require you to be enrolled in your relevant modules. If your course requires an enrollment key, please contact your lecturer for this information.

  3. In your relevant class week, look for the Blackboard Collaborate icon with the name of the class session. Click Join Session to begin.

    Note: Sessions will become active 15 minutes before the beginning of the scheduled start time.

Reviewing Recordings in UTechOnline

If your lecturer has recorded the session and made allowance for students to review the session, you may do so by returning to section of your course where your online session was created. Recordings should become available within 30 minutes of being posted to the site.

 

 Joining Sessions via link

To join a session using Blackboard Collaborate link sent to your email, click on the link provided in the Your Link section.

For best experience use Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers.

 

Participate from a Mobile Device          

You can participate in a Blackboard Collaborate Session directly from your mobile device (Apple, Android, or Windows) with the free BbC App. Within the app, you are able to fully interact during the session:

  • Join live classes or meetings
  • Share audio and video
  • Interact via text chat
  • View content shared by the instructor 
  • Use whiteboard tools
  • Use emoticons, hand raising, polls, breakout rooms

When participating from a mobile device, you may experience rapid battery drain, so it is recommended that you are fully charged or plugged in.
