Dr. Colin A. Gyles is an Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Sport at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). He holds a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies (UWI). Dr. Gyles has published a number of papers in refereed international scientific journals, made presentations at conferences and has been a contributor to local newspapers publishing articles on social issues, religion, governance and ethics, among others. He has served as a Commissioner of the Overseas Examinations Commission, Member of the National Planning Task Force on Science, Technology and Innovation, Planning Institute of Jamaica, Member of the National Public Education Committee for Science and Technology, a Committee of the National Commission on Science and Technology (NCST) and is presently Chairman of the Curriculum Committee of the JFF/UTech Football Coaching School. Dr. Gyles holds memberships in a number of professional bodies including The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), The American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

He joined the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) in 1988 as Lecturer and Education Technologist in the Department of Science. He then went to serve at the Bureau of Standards as a Standards Scientific Officer in 1990 where he was a Gazetted Inspector for the Jamaican Government under The Standards Act (1968) and The Weights and Measures Act (1968). He returned to the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, formerly CAST) in September 1995 as Lecturer in the Department of Science & Mathematics. He was appointed Head of the Physics Division in September 2004 and Acting Head of the Department of Science and Mathematics in September 2007. Dr. Gyles was instrumental in developing the proposal for the establishment of the Faculty of Science and Sport at UTech and in August 2009 was appointed as the first Dean of that faculty. In addition to teaching and administration, Dr Gyles serves on the University's Governance Committee of Council and the Academic Board. He is married, has two teen-aged children, a son and daughter and is an active lay preacher.

Beverly Myers presently lectures Industrial Chemistry to students in the B. Sc Science and Education programme. She has a research interest in the different methods of science teaching and endeavours to share teaching strategies/methods with science student/teachers on teaching practicum.

Besides being the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science and Sport (FOSS), Mrs. Myers coordinates the Faculty's Academic Advisement Unit and is the Chairperson of the Faculty's Curriculum Development Committee.
