  • Prepare teachers of technical subjects who will provide quality leadership, administration and supervision of technical programmes in the TVET system.
  • Provide prospective teachers with skills in curriculum planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of technical programmes.
  • Provide opportunities for student teachers to grow in the confidence as independent learners and develop the attitudes and behavioral standards essential for good citizenship.

The aim of the Mechanical Technology Section is to develop in each student:

  • An ability to teach Mechanical Technology subjects at Upper Secondary and the Lower Tertiary Level institutions.
  • An acceptable level of confidence and competence in Teaching Methodology in Mechanical Technology subjects.
  • Research skills as well as creativity in planning, designing and constructing projects appropriate to their specialization.
  • An understanding of materials, tools and processes used in Mechanical Technology
  • Laboratory skills and safety working habits
  • An ability to work with machine shop equipment in the workshop
