PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Certificate in Dialysis Technician course of study at the University of Technology, Jamaica, is designed for motivated individuals who intend and desire to advance their educational and professional career in Dialysis in Jamaica and the Caribbean Region.
The course of study offers a practical approach to Dialysis training specifically designed to meet the needs of the Caribbean region. The course of study includes extensive didactic and experiential training that will enable graduates to effectively apply knowledge, experience, analytical skills and expertise to meet the needs of Dialysis practice in Jamaica and the Region.
This certificate course is a comprehensive programme designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and expertise for entry level employment in dialysis units. Students will learn the principles of renal failure and dialysis, operation of dialysis devices, monitoring treatment and other related topics of dialysis, patient care and treatment.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- To qualify for entry into the Certificate Dialysis technician course of study, applicants should possess a minimum of 4 GCE O’Level A, B or C or CXC/CSEC General Proficiency Level I-II (I-III since 1998) or a combination of both.
- Applicants must possess the subjects Mathematics, English, Human and Social Biology/Biology/Integrated Science and any other science related subject. Selection interviews will be conducted.
- Applicants should display, professional attitude, good written and oral skills, ability to operate in a team, dependable, customer-service oriented, and pay attention to details.
- All applications should be accompanied by proof of academic qualifications.
