President's Message
UTech has come a far way since it opened its doors in 1958 with 50 students and
4 programmes. Today the University boasts a student population of over 10,000
and over 100 programmes in a wide variety of disciplines, offered through two
colleges and five faculties. Over 45,000 alumni of this noble institution are
making a contribution to development in Jamaica and across the globe. At the
same time our students and graduates continue to make tremendous contributions
to excellence in sports, community service, culture and the arts.
I encourage all our alumni at home and abroad to take a continuing interest in
your alma mater. Without supportive alumni, no University can go far into the
future. As the demand for training evolves, the University seeks to continuously
expand and upgrade our academic offerings and services to meet relevant
workforce and development needs.
Despite declining government funding, we have a vision to develop our
institutional capacity to support the social and economic development of
Jamaica. If we are to be sustainable on this endeavor, then we must, through our
own efforts, earn our way by increasing income from non-government sources. The
support of our alumni is crucial in this regard. In particular, we want to
enlist your support in bolstering the University’s Endowment Fund which has been
established to raise both monetary and non-monetary resources in support of the
University’s broad development objectives in such areas as sports, scholarships
and capital development projects.
There are many opportunities for our alumni and friends to partner with the
University in fulfillment of our mandate to stimulate positive change in the
Caribbean, the Diaspora and beyond through provision of world-class education
and training. We welcome your support and invite you to explore our University
through the pages of our website and to join us on the journey to provide
world-class education and training.

Message from the Director of Advancement (with responsibility for Alumni
Relations)
This is the corporate page of the University of Technology, Jamaica Alumni
Association (UTech Alumni) formerly, the College of Arts, Science and Technology
(CAST) Past Students' Association). As Director of Advancement (with
responsibility for Alumni Relations), I am happy to welcome you to our newly
revised site. We promise to use this medium to improve communication to and
among UTech alumni and friends across the globe – an activity I am sure will
foster greater unity among the groups and facilitate growth and development
individually and collectively.
UTech Alumni Association consists of various
Chapters and related Executive Committees elected from and by the alumni body.
All committee members are volunteers. The Alumni Relations Office on the Papine
campus provides support to the Alumni Chapters and is also the official link
between the University and alumni.
Stick to the UTech Family
With your support,
we can expand the services of the Association to facilitate among other things,
opportunities for personal development, networking and real fun. We want you to
take advantage of the resources available to help you succeed in life not just
in Jamaica but on the world stage as well. In this regard, we are
expanding/strengthening your University’s alumni relations activities. We are
about to establish more chapters in other parts of the world and improve
communication/links with our graduates. We not only want you to leave with a
UTech certificate, we want to help you make it work for you to become more
fulfilled individuals as we help to open doors/opportunities for you which would
otherwise be inaccessible. Kindly review the exciting activities by your peers
in various chapters and the many opportunities afforded you as an alumnus, then
sign up immediately to access them. Be an active member of the UTech Family.

Like most universities worldwide, UTech needs your
support to improve and expand its services to the community. We encourage you to
embrace the opportunity to participate in national development by educating our
people and equipping them with the requisite skills and training facilitated by

kind.
