The Associate Degree in
Science Laboratory Technology seeks to employ a student
centered classroom approach to inculcate the appropriate
knowledge and practices underpinning the relevant
laboratory methods and experimental skills. This will
produce graduates who, upon graduation have the
requisite skills and competencies to contribute
immediately to the workplace as laboratory technicians.
Graduates will demonstrate a mastery of standard
scientific procedures and experimental dexterity, which
will allow them to operate chemical and biotechnological
laboratory instrumentation, report and analyze
scientific data.

Applicants should satisfy
one of the following requirements:
1. Passes in Four (4)
subjects including
English Language, Mathematics, One science
subject (Chemistry, Biology or Physics) PLUS one
other at CXC General Proficiency level grades 1, 2, (or
3 acceptable from June 1998) or GCE O’ Level grades A,
B, or C.
2. Passes in Three (3)
subjects, English Language, Mathematics and one (1)
science subject (Chemistry, Biology or Physics) at CXC
General Proficiency level grades 1, 2, (or 3 acceptable
from June 1998) or GCE O’ Level grades A, B, or C.
PLUS A Certificate in Science Laboratory Technician and
at least one year work experience. (These applicants
will be given advanced placement to Year three (3) of
the programme.)
3. Persons 25 years of
age and above who are not eligible for admission under
the normal entry requirements outlined above may apply
for MATURE ENTRY by submitting a portfolio attesting to
their attainments and / or relevant
experience.
