UTech Ubuntu Awards to Celebrate Unsung Jamaican Heroes

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) on Sunday, June 29, 2014 honoured twenty (20 Jamaican citizens and one organization with the inaugural Essence of Humanities Awards, called the Ubuntu Awards in recognition of their work in communities across Jamaica where they have demonstrated courage in standing up for the marginalized and socially excluded and have advocated for better community conditions for those who have endured stigma and discrimination.

UTech Collaborates with Trevor Hamilton and Associates for ICT Consultancy in St. Vincent & The Grenadines

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) has been contracted by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the preferred consultant for the assessment and development of ICT Skills and for certification in ICT skills training in that CARICOM country. This is part of the University’s thrust to expand its engagement in providing consultancy services.

UTech partnered with the management consultancy firm Trevor Hamilton and Associates in the preparation of the Expression of Interest and subsequently in the preparation of the invited consultancy proposal which won the bid. UTech and Trevor Hamilton Associates today, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 signed the agreement formalizing the partnership between the two entities on the ICT consultancy project.

Prof. Errol Morrison Invited to Serve on IAUP Executive Committee

Prof. the Hon. Errol Morrison, OJ, President, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) has been invited by President-Elect of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Toyoshi Satow to serve as a member of its Executive Committee during his triennial term from 2014-2017.

The IAUP Executive Committee is a select group of distinguished rectors/presidents/Vice Chancellors who advise the leadership of IAUP on the various programmes and initiatives that IAUP conducts. The meetings take place twice a year (one every semester) in various parts of the world and Executive Committee members are expected to attend regularly.
