UTech Confers Honorary Degree on Renowned Researcher, Michael Nobel …Distinguished Lecture Forecasts Fascinating Breakthroughs in Medical Technology

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) on Thursday, October 2, 2014 conferred the Honorary Doctor of Science on Prof. Michael Nobel, world renowned researcher, at a special ceremony held at the Alfred Sangster auditorium, UTech Papine campus. Nobel, who is a family member of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the prestigious World Nobel prizes, was awarded the Hon. DSc "in recognition of the international respect that his scholarship and service in science has attained, particularly in the field of medicine."

UTech/JPS Unveil 100 KW Solar Energy Project …Jamaica Set to Save US$224,000 in fuel cost per annum

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) and the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) on Thursday July 10, 2014 formally commissioned a 100kW Solar Energy Project at a special ceremony and unveiling held at the University’s Papine campus. Both entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of the Project in October 2012. The project was completed within budget at a cost of US$308,000 and was put into service on June 12, 2014.

UTech Student is Student Nurse of the Year

Ava-Gail Lindsay, a third year student at the Caribbean School of Nursing (CSON), College of Health Sciences, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), won the prestigious Lasco Student Nurse of the Year competition. She was crowned during the Nurses Association of Jamaica awards ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on Saturday, July 19, 2014.
